When we were camping last week at Killbear Provincial Park, I was amazed by the oak trees growing on our camp site. Our site was on top of a lakeside rock cliff (part of the Canadian shield) and it was tricky to pitch a tent! The photo on the left is my daughter enjoying the view and a snack! Most of the trees clinging to the rocks were pines and some maple farther back from the lake, but here and there were these feisty oak trees. They intrigued me and I spent lots of time (while enjoying this amazing view) thinking about these oak trees. I'm not sure why I was so enchanted and hope to figure that out in the next couple of weeks.
So when it was time to leave, I collected a couple of leaves and acorns, and starting thinking about how I could use these in my August BJP.
I decided to try sun painting with my Setacolour paints and had a couple of hours today to experiment. Of course, when I had the time, there were 2 other issues - partly cloudy skies, and no white fabric on which to paint.
I decided to take a chance on the sun, and just give it a try. Then I decided I'd have to paint on top of fabric which I had already painted, but that I didn't like because it was either boring, or too light in colour. I picked four pieces since I didn't have many leaves to use, and just started. This is a view of the four pieces drying under partly sunny skies, with the oak leaves embedded in the paint, and the corners of the fabric held down with rocks so the pieces wouldn't blow away.

Hmmm...will these efforts produce anything I can use???
