February. But when the time came, I had no interest in hearts! For some unknown reason, I really wanted to work on January! Okay...who am I to argue with my creative self?!?Here is the base fabric I had picked out for January. I was thinking COLD, WIND, and SNOW! I love these blue sequins, and picked out some blue and white beads to start the creative juices flowing. I machine quilted the base but not as densely as I have in previous months.
The colour is off in the photo, but it shows the quilting well. Does it make you think of swirling snow?!? I hope so.I think what really inspired me and got me thinking about snowflakes was looking at Grace's snowflakes in December. You can see her snowflakes here. I printed off a couple of photos of her beaded snowflakes and tried to make some of my own by looking at her photos...and it was SO MUCH FUN!!
I was like a kid again, playing with various combinations of types and sizes of beads. I took a photo of my finished snowflakes on my rotary cutting mat so you could see how small they are. Are your snowflakes this small Grace??? Each one looks so pretty and although they are beaded using the same ideas, they look quite different. Thanks again to Grace for the inspiration, and to Nancy Eha who inspired Grace! Now to attach them to the fabric.
I wonder if there will be pink snowflakes flying onto my February piece?? I just don't feel like I am finished with this fun activity!

Hi Kathy,
Your snowflakes look great! They are fun to make aren't they? I could have made bunches and bunches too. Depending on which size beads I used (11/0 or 15/0) and how many rounds I went is what made the sizes vary. Using the 15/0's did make for some itty bitty (but oh so cute) snowflakes. Great job, I'm looking forward to seeing how you put it all together.
It's all about having fun... yes, and indeed you are! Pink snowflakes in February sound just dandy to me. Go for it!!! I love the quilting you are doing and the fabrics you choose. Yay! Robin A.
Hi Kathy... I have to tell you, i've been incredibly intrigued by your BJPs... your work is exquisite! The planning you do, the techniques you use and the effects you achieve are inspiring. I wish i could be a little bit (OK a lot) more like you when doing my projects! Keep up the awesome work!
