piece more and enjoying spending time with it. I decided to add a piece of the ribbon from my birthday present from my sister. She brought me chocolate covered strawberries and apples from a store called "Edible Arrangements" in Michigan. Not only was it a surprise, but it was so beautiful and delicious! Around the box was a pretty ribbon, which I saved. This is a poor quality photo of the ribbon but you can get the idea. The colours didn't really go with my June piece, but I decided to use it anyway.
To me, the ribbon really symbolized 'June'...my birthday, strawberries (which were not good
this year in Ontario due to the weather) and fun times with my family. So I used small pieces of the ribbon and hand appliqued the word 'chocolate' using the needleturn technique. I beaded around the edges also and I hope I have secured it enough that it won't unravel.I hope to finish the background beading this week so I can finally get going on the July piece. I am worrying a little bit about unevenly beading such a large piece and whether it will lay flat or become a warped and wavy bowl!
